When it comes to planning a meeting, training day or event, one of the biggest decisions you’ll make is how to set up the room. The layout can completely change how people interact, engage and focus yet it’s often something clients only think about once they arrive.
At Venton, we know that no two events are the same, which is why we offer flexible layouts that can be tailored to your needs. Whether you’re hosting a small board meeting, a training session or a full conference, we’ll help you find a setup that works perfectly for your space, your people and your purpose.
Here’s our guide to the most popular layouts and which of our rooms they work best in.
1. Boardroom Layout
Best for: Team meetings, interviews, client presentations and discussions.
The boardroom layout features one large central table with chairs around it, perfect for smaller groups where everyone needs to contribute equally. It creates a collaborative, focused atmosphere and keeps the conversation flowing.
At Venton, our Fistral Room is a dedicated boardroom designed specifically for this setup. Harlyn, Sennen, Durgan, and Constantine can also be arranged in boardroom mode for medium-sized meetings that need a professional and connected feel.
Works well in: Fistral, Harlyn, Sennen, Durgan, Constantine
2. Theatre Layout
Best for: Conferences, seminars, talks and presentations.
This layout maximises audience capacity, with chairs arranged in rows facing the front. It’s ideal when your attendees need to focus on a speaker, panel or presentation.
If you’re hosting a larger event, Kynance and Durgan are both excellent options for theatre-style seating, offering clear visibility for every attendee. When combined, they create Venton’s largest space, comfortably accommodating up to 120 guests.
Works well in: Kynance, Durgan, Constantine, Harlyn & Sennen (combined)
3. Classroom Layout
Best for: Training sessions and learning-based events.
Tables are arranged in rows facing the front, allowing attendees to take notes or work through materials. It’s a structured and practical setup that keeps focus on the facilitator while still allowing interaction.
Our Constantine, Durgan and Kynance rooms are perfectly suited to this format, offering enough space for materials, equipment and movement between tables. Harlyn and Sennen also work beautifully for smaller training groups.
Works well in: Constantine, Durgan, Kynance, Harlyn, Sennen
4. Cabaret Layout
Best for: Team days, networking events and collaborative sessions.
In a cabaret layout, tables are grouped together in clusters with generally six delegates per table, allowing people to interact easily within groups while keeping focus on the front. It’s relaxed but still purposeful making it great for training, networking or informal presentations.
At Venton, our Kynance and Durgan rooms are ideal for cabaret-style setups, offering plenty of space and the ability to adjust lighting and screens for a more dynamic feel. Constantine can also be adapted for smaller group cabaret formats.
Works well in: Kynance, Durgan, Constantine, Harlyn & Sennen (combined)
5. U-Shape Layout
Best for: Workshops, committee meetings, or strategy sessions.
Tables are arranged in a U-shape with open space at the front, allowing everyone to see each other while maintaining a clear area for a speaker or screen. This layout encourages discussion and collaboration, making it great for decision-making or team-building sessions.
Constantine, Sennen, and Kynance all lend themselves perfectly to this configuration, giving plenty of space for interaction and presentation equipment.
Works well in: Constantine, Sennen, Kynance
6. Segmented Sections / Breakout Layouts
Best for: Multi-activity events, breakout sessions or hybrid formats.
If your event includes different activities or discussions, segmented layouts are ideal. Our larger rooms can be divided into sections for smaller group work, then opened back up when you’re ready to bring everyone together again.
Both Kynance and Durgan are designed for this level of flexibility, allowing you to create breakout areas or hybrid setups while maintaining visibility and connection throughout the space.
For events that need multiple breakout sessions or additional privacy, exclusive hire of our spaces is also available. This option gives you complete access to adjoining areas, shared facilities and our communal Workspace, ensuring your attendees can move freely between sessions without interruption. It’s a popular choice for training days, multi-team meetings or confidential business events that need a little extra space and discretion.
Works well in: Kynance, Durgan
